Laura Santos is a transfer junior in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania. They study political science, creative writing, and data analysis. They have several years of experience in bilingual writing and editing at Urbana Literary & Arts Magazine (Miami Dade College) where they served as Editor-in-Chief for two years before graduating with an associate degree. Laura is an immigrant and an orphan which guides big part of their writing and experiences. They are interested in breaking down language, flashing descriptivism, and neologisms; they also seek to explore overlapping English, Spanish, and perhaps more languages through poetry. They speak 5 different languages, 3 fluently. Laura has been deeply influenced to try experimental poetry which plays with spacing, positioning, visual elements, definitions, and neologisms. Taking example from Paul Celan's artistry, Laura incorporates neologisms and word games in both English and Spanish to represent where singular words fall short. Laura has published blog articles, creative nonfiction, fiction, poetry, and audio novellas in BeLatina and Urbana Literary & Arts Magazine. Now, they are a copy associate and content manager at The Penn Review while serving as poetry editor at the F-Word Magazine.
